tumbleweed's kiss (2023)
A series of cyanotypes made with a single tumbleweed shown in the exhibition Marfa Tumbleweed.
The tumbleweed’s kiss series captures a tumbleweed’s relationship between the earth and sun in a single moment using the cyanotype process. Its closer branches are represented clearly, while further branches less so (or not at all). The mysterious, deep blues of these prints reveal the limitations of memory—what is definite and what is left to imagination. What can a tumbleweed remember about a place it inhabits so briefly? What marks can it leave on that place?
